Our own "Marathon Man" - Alan Holt |
He did it!
On 26th April 2009, Alan Holt completed his 12th and final London Marathon.
Following the disappointment of failing to finish the 2007 London Marathon,
Alan was determined to complete just one more marathon and chose the 2009 London
Marathon.
After a long and grueling training regime over the past few months, Alan took
to the London streets with 36,000 other runners.
As in 2007, Alan once again found the problem was his knees, which played up
and made it, Alan says, the hardest event in which he has ever taken part.
 |
However, he battled on and
completed the course in 5hr 23m 34s: no mean achievement at 70 years
old.
For those interested in stats, the detailed break times are here
and from comparing
to the top runner in his age group, you can see just how well Alan was
doing, until those knees started to play up
A huge thank you, to all those who provided sponsorship, or sent messages
of support prior to the race. Alan will be contacting you in the next
few days to thank you personally.
The sponsorship page at
JustGiving.com remains open for anybody else who might like
to contribute.
